Youngstown-made products prominently featured in This Old House Magazine’s 2019 Idea House reveal issue

Canfield, OH: This Old House recently released the digital and print debut of their 2019 Idea House, which prominently features multiple products made and shipped from Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods, based in Canfield, OH. Located in the coveted historic district of downtown New Canaan, Connecticut, the project is featured in the recent issue of This Old HouseMagazine and on thisoldhouse.com.

The 6000 sq. ft. 1840s-era Greek Revival home was restored by Karp Associates, Inc. and utilizes Baird Brothers products on all three floors: select and character grade white oak flooring, custom mouldings and nearly 40 solid white oak 3-panel doors. Notable design features include the entry hall’s intricate herringbone oak floor, sleek, modern railings for the three-story open staircase, and the home’s original beehive oven on the basement level.

“We’ve had the opportunity to visit the 2019 Idea House on several occasions over the past several months, and that home is unlike anything I’ve ever seen,” said Steve Stack, sales director at Baird Brothers. “Everywhere you turn, there’s something breathtaking to look at, whether it’s the multiple double-sided fireplaces or the 8-foot solid white oak doors.”

As the name suggests, the purpose of This Old House’s Idea House is to give fans ideas and insight from a concept home that incorporates innovative building materials and inspiring design ideas. The 2019 project is This Old House’s 5th annual Idea House and Baird Brothers’ fourth completed project with the This Old House brand.

Previous partnerships included the 2018 Idea House, the 2018 Jamestown Net-Zero House and a recent project with House One, This Old House’s digital brand.

“Our opportunities with This Old House have been exciting and inspiring,” said Stack. “We’re side-by-side with industry leaders like Tom Silva and Kevin O’Connor, and we’re watching our locally made products get national recognition. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods manufactures and retails high-quality architectural hardwood products, including mouldings, handrails, stair parts, flooring, S4S lumber and more.
